(CNN) – On Monday, thousands are expected to gather to say goodbye to the young man whose shooting death sparked massive protests in Ferguson, MO.

A funeral for 18-year-old Michael Brown is scheduled for Monday morning.

Brown's father asked those gathered at a rally in support of his son not to protest on that day.

“Tomorrow all I want is peace while my son is being laid to rest. Can you please take a day of silence so we can lay our son to rest? Please. That's all I ask. Thank you,” Michael Brown Sr. said.

Michael Brown's funeral will feature a eulogy by the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Michael Brown, an unarmed black man, was shot and killed more than two weeks ago by a white Ferguson police officer, triggering at times violent protests.
