NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The criminal case against a suspect in one of Nashville's largest dog fighting cases is moving forward.

A Davidson County grand jury indicted Michael Davis on 27 felony charges of animal fighting and three counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.

The charges stem from an April raid at Davis' home on Pewitt Road in Bordeaux.

Animal control officers confiscated more than two dozen dogs and equipment to train and fight dogs.

Davis remains in the Davidson County Jail on the dog fighting charges and an unrelated cocaine charge.

Davis will next appear in court in mid-September.
