Federal investigation launched in Lyman, employee placed on leave

LYMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Federal officials launched an investigation at Lyman Town Hall and a town employee was placed on leave on Tuesday, according to Mayor Pro Tem Tony Wyatt.

Wyatt said the town employee was placed on unpaid administrative leave pending an internal matter after consulting with the town attorney.

Wyatt said federal agents were also in Lyman on Tuesday, inspecting equipment inside town hall.

Wyatt said that federal investigators may be investigating the town's security cameras after it was revealed in the most recent council meeting that town hall security cameras could be accessed remotely.

Wyatt could not confirm if the employee matter and the federal investigation were at all connected.
