MADISON, TN (WSMV) -

The final piece is in place to restore a historic Nashville train station.

Tuesday, Mayor Karl Dean, Congressman Jim Cooper and others celebrated at the Amqui Station in Madison.

AT&T donated just under two acres to Discover Madison, the community group that's worked for several years to return the Amqui Station to its glory days.

"It's the people of the community saying, 'we're going to make our community better, we're going to invest in ourselves, we're going to work hard to make a difference,'" Dean said. "And that's what's happened with Amqui Station. That's what Discover Madison does, and that's what leadership you get from your chamber. Right down the line, it's happening here in Madison."

AT&T previously donated the land where the station now sits.

The Amqui Station houses a museum that focuses on the landmark's history, both rail and musical.

Johnny Cash bought the depot in 1979 and moved it to his property in Hendersonville to display his collection of train memorabilia.

After Cash's death in 2003, the station was donated back to Madison. It returned to its home in 2006 to be revitalized.
