GRAY COURT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Upstate community hit the pavement on Saturday to spread awareness and raise funds for a teen battling a rare form of colon cancer.

The Center Rabun Baptist Church organized the prayer walk to benefit Daisy Kilgore, who was diagnosed with a growing metastatic carcinoid tumor.

Kilgore, a sophomore at Laurens District 55 High School, and her family have to make continual flights to Iowa, where the teen undergoes treatment for the rare cancer, organizers said.

The walk began at 9 a.m. and spanned from the Gray Court-Owings School to the Mobil Exxon fuel station at North Main Street and Central Avenue.

Organizers said they wanted Kilgore to know they cared about her about her and raise money for her continued care.
