GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Two new Greenville B-cycle stations have opened up, offering cyclists eight locations to rent bicycles for riding around town.

Stations were recently installed at the Greenville Zoo in Cleveland Park and the Hughes Main Library at Heritage Green with support from the city and county of Greenville.

To celebrate the new stations, B-cycle is offering half-price annual memberships through Sept. 30. People can sign-up online at greenvillebcycle.com and use promo code BackToSchool2014 to get the $30 deal.

"By opening a B-cycle station at the zoo entrance, we hope zoo patrons will park downtown and then B-cycle along the Swamp Rabbit Trail to the zoo," said City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Director Dana Souza. "We see B-cycle as a convenient, affordable alternative for visitors and residents who want to get active and see the city without a vehicle."

Riders can also check out adult-sized bicycles at County Square, Sterling Community Center, City Hall, the Greenville Transit Center and at the corners of College and North Main streets and Rhett and River streets. Day memberships are $5 and can be purchased at kiosks or online. Annual memberships are $60 and can be purchased online only.

B-cycle was first launched during the spring of 2013 in Greenville and members have logged nearly 5,000 rides since then. The bike share system hopes to have at least 10 stations and 50 bikes available in the next year or two. Upstate Forever and Greenville Health System are major supporters of the system.

The B-cycle system is also available in Spartanburg.
