MAULDIN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The owner of a Mauldin restaurant said someone threw a rock through the front glass, breaking in and stealing a cash register.

El Carriel owner Paula Trujillo said an employee arrived to find the shattered glass Wednesday morning, with an empty cash register on the ground.

When she reviewed surveillance, Trujillo said she saw people on camera throw a rock through the front door.

She said this is the first time something like this has happened at the Main Street restaurant.

"I don't feel angry, I feel blessed that I wasn't here, that my people my employees were not here," Trujillo said. "I feel disappointed that whoever came took whatever they got. They got it so easy when we work so hard to get a business."

The glass was repaired, and the restaurant was back in business later in the day.

Anyone with information on the break-in should call Mauldin police.
