KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

Retired Navy Seaman Joshua Moore received the keys to his new mortgage free home Thursday morning.

Bank of America and the Nehemiah Community Investment Fund joined together to renovate a home Kingsport for Moore and his family.

Moore couldn't believe his eyes when he entered his home for the first time.

“I'm feeling very overwhelmed. This is amazing I'm still trying to take all this stuff in,” said Moore.

Checking out every nook and a cranny of his home, there was a surprise waiting for him around each corner. While some surprises left him speechless, with others he could only say, "thank you".

Moore knows what it's like to sacrifice for others. He served in the Navy from 1997 to 2005.

Moore also knows what it's like to lose everything you have in an instant. A fire at an apartment complex where he lived in 2006 left him with nothing.

Thanks to Bank of America and the Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund, Moore and his family have a newly renovated home.

“We started looking for a house in April and for some reason we just kept getting told no,” said Moore.

“Our mission through our roofs for troops program is to help veterans and military because we believe that they are shut out of home ownership often whether it's their loan or credit or the competition in the market,” said Nehemiah Community Reinvestment Fund Representative Nicole Learned.

Moore told News Channel 11 he will begin moving his personal items into the home Thursday.

Moore said with a new home, he can't wait to see what the future holds for his family.
