LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Laurens County Deputy is working to send a clear message about the dangers of drunk driving through a short film, but he needs donations to complete the project.

Sgt. Barton Holmes is working with Greenville-based production company SlicedTomato Productions on the project.

The idea came to life in February.

"It's something that I think will grab people's attention... Flashing back to the key decision points, that's the kind of style we chose for this film," said Holmes.

Holmes said he approached the Laurens County Prevention Coalition about the idea, and the group put up $20,000 in funding.

LCPC works toward lowering the number of DUI crashes in Laurens County.

Chris Hill, the founder of SlicedTomato, is hoping the finished product will elicit an emotional reaction from anyone who sees it.

"In this case, the appeal is really meant to come from a friend. You have your whole life in front of you, that's how the video starts. A couple of choices that don't even seem like big choices, they happen, and you can't undo them," said Hill.

Hill expects the film to be ready by the end of September.

Holmes plans to share it with Laurens County high school kids attending prom, and college students in the area.
