CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Clemson University students on campus are still grieving the loss of a friend, classmate and brother. Many of them say they're praying for Tucker Hipps' family since the time investigators found his body in Lake Hartwell under the Highway 93 bridge in Oconee County Monday afternoon.

On Thursday, the talk around campus was not only about Hipps, but also about social activities involving fraternities during homecoming on Oct. 25.

"We have been talking with students about the passing of another Clemson student," said Joe Mazer, director of the social media listening center.

Investigators say Hipps, along with about 30 fellow pledges and brothers of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, went for an early-morning run Monday. Hours later, someone reported they couldn't find him.

"There has been a little concern on social media about some of the sanctions that were brought down against some organizations on campus," Mazer said.

School administrators canceled all social activities involving fraternities and students want to know what that means for homecoming events.

"There are many popular activities that are tied to those organizations' activities that have been in place for many, many years and have a great history," Mazer said.

The history involves fraternities building floats at Bowman Field, as well as other activities with alumni.

"Students on social media are beginning to express some concern about the future of those activities giving the current situation," he said.

John Gouch, assistant director of media relations, said fraternities can participate in homecoming activities.

Students say they continue to pray for the Hipps family as investigators try to figure out what happened.
