INMAN, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Spartanburg County deputies say a stolen track hoe was used to heavily damage a home under construction in Inman.

Reports said deputies were called to the home on Ridgeville Church Road on Sunday afternoon after a neighbor heard the commotion. The neighbor also told deputies he saw a tall skinny man running from the scene.

When deputies arrived they said they found the track hoe abandoned and the framed house with several walls knocked out, a hole in the roof, and completely shifted off of it's foundation by several inches.

Investigators said the track hoe was taken from another construction site nearby and said whoever took it was an expert operator.

Neighbor Franklin Blackwell said there are several homes under construction in the area and he also heard some noise on Sunday.

"I didn't know they were tearing things down over there," said Blackwell. "I thought they were just working."

FOX Carolina talked with the builder who said he doesn't know why he was targeted. The builder said what remains of the house will have to be torn down and the house rebuilt from scratch. The builder said the damage will total nearly $30,000.
