List of cold weather shelters

The American Red Cross has opened several warming and lodging shelters across the Upstate along with several shelters open in North Carolina as temperatures are expected to plunge into the single digits and possible even into the negative digits in North Carolina.

If you need to get out of the cold, officials urge you to get to one of the following shelters.


Old Anderson 911 Building

Salvation Army shelter

106 Tolly Street, Anderson. Opens at 4 p.m.

Hillcrest Baptist Church 

1300 Anderson Drive, Williamston. 864-847-7521 Hot meals will be served. 


A-Hope Day Center

The Union County Sheriff's Office says if you need to seek warm shelter due to extreme cold, call Union County Emergency Services at 864-429-1611.

The American Red Cross and officials in counties across the Upstate and Western North Carolina said they would be in communication as temperatures dropped and more shelters will be opened if the need arises. Residents are urged to call their local police and fire stations if they need assistance locating a shelter.
