Greenville streets close for Greek Festival, special events

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Roads closed in downtown Greenville Wednesday morning ahead of the Greek Festival and city officials have also announced other upcoming road closures in conjunction with weekend events.

City officials said Elford Street would be closed from Academy Street to Townes Street beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday and reopen at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 18 at 7 a.m.

Officials also announced the following closures.

Main Street, from Broad Street to Court Street, will be closed from Thursday, May 14 at 8 a.m. to Friday, May 15 at 1 a.m. for the Celebrity Concert on Main, which is part of the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

Parts of Main Street will also be closed on Saturday, May 16 for the Armed Forces Day Parade:

  • 3 – 5 p.m. - Main Street from Falls Park Drive to Broad Street
  • 5 – 6 p.m. - Main Street from Broad Street to East North Street
  • 6 – 8 p.m. - Main Street from East North Street to Washington Street

The following streets will be closed on Saturday, May 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the Cougar Strong 5K:

  • Rice Street, from Deoyley Avenue to Meyers Drive
  • Meyers Drive, from Rice Street to Sunset Drive
  • Forest Lane, from Sunset Drive to Rockwood Drive
  • Rockwood Drive, from Forest Lane to Meyers Drive
  • Cammer Avenue, from Meyers Drive to Long Hill Street
  • Long Hill Street, from Cammer Avenue to Rice Street
