Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) announced in May 2015 that he was seeking the Republican nomination for the 2016 presidential race.

Huckabee served as the governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, losing the nomination to Sen. John McCain (R, AZ).

Huckabee hosted the show Huckabee on the FOX News Channel that ended in Jan. 2015 when Huckabee told viewers he was considering another presidential run.

Huckabee is also a best-selling author. His titles include God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy, which was published earlier this year.

Huckabee opposes the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, abortion, common core, gun control and same-sex marriage, and supports tighter restrictions on immigration, according to his campaign website.
