High pressure sits over the southeast Monday with a frontal boundary near Kentucky. As the heat and humidity build, the high pressure won't be strong enough to keep storms from popping up.
Expect mostly sunny skies today with highs reaching the low 90s in the Upstate and mid-80s in the mountains. Though most areas will stay dry, a few showers and storms become possible in the afternoon, mainly in the mountains. Skies dry out late overnight with lows in the 60s and 70s.
The rest of the week brings highs in the low 90s each day with partly cloudy skies and isolated afternoon thunderstorms. The rain chance increases for the second half of the week. By the weekend, more showers and storms are expected, dropping temperatures into the upper 80s on Saturday and Sunday.
