SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A Moore man received a 20-year prison sentence Tuesday after he admitted to sexually assaulting a boy.

Earle A. Lindsay, 35, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

The victim was 6 years old, according to a statement from the 7th Circuit Solicitor's Office.

The boy’s father reported the crimes to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in June 2013.

The young boy described how Lindsay had sexually abused him during a conversation with a daycare worker, as well as during a forensic examination, according to the statement.

"Lindsay confessed to the crimes during a recorded interview with a sheriff’s investigator. He also said he was a friend of the victim’s father and he visited the victim’s home on a regular basis, according to the statement.

Lindsay's criminal record included a conviction for breach of trust with fraudulent intent.

He will serve 17 years before he's eligible for release from prison and his name will be added to the sex offender registry and the central registry for child abuse.
