Crews continuing cleaning after Friday night storms

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

It was a busy day for Greenville County crews, cleaning up the aftermath of Friday night's storm.

A massive tree outside the Children's Museum in Greenville was completely uprooted from the ground.

"We were shocked, to see one of these sized trees come down was surprising, we were also happy it fell away from the buildings and not towards the buildings," said Bernie Crawford the Operations Manager at the Children's Museum.

Crawford said he and the staff are glad it fell late at night, "We do have a lot of people around most days, so something like that happening during business hours would be frightening."

He said landscapers will be out to fill the hole left behind as a safety concern.

"The big concern was people climbing on the tree when it was down but their at a point where that's not an issue anymore, from a safety concern the worst of it's behind us now," said Crawford.

The museum wasn't the only place badly hit; neighborhoods nearby suffered power outages from downed trees as well.
