GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

It was a wet day throughout the Upstate. There were several accidents, some along Interstate-85, and in Greenville County, Cleveland Park was closed off by the Greenville Police Department and the Zoo also closed early for the day.

"Mostly we like coming to the park just to walk the dog and spend a little time here, but with the weather like it is, it's impossible," said Charles Gates.

Gates and his daughter said coming to Cleveland Park is part of their daily routine, and they're a bit fed up with the amount of rainfall lately in the Greenville area . "This is the most rain that I've ever seen here in our area, this year," said Bates.

One Greenville woman, said today's downpour was a reminder of scary moment she had last year when it rained like today.

"It started raining like it is now, and all of the sudden, the water started coming down, started gushing down at the light here, and we were almost here but we got caught in it," said Karen Clements.

Clements said last year when she drove through Clevland Park during a storm she had to be rescued from her car because of the flooding. She said she was glad to see the park was closed, "do not come through Cleveland Park when it's raining anymore!"

In Travelers Rest a sinkhole popped up at the intersection of Stamey Valley Road and Bates Crossing Road.  A deputy on scene said it could have been caused by the wet weather.

At the Downtown Airport two and a half inches of rain was measured and at GSP they had just under two inches.
