Upstate's first brewery-cidery opens its doors in Spartanburg

Just in time for the fall season, a new brewery-cidery has opened in downtown Spartanburg.

Hub City Tap House, at 197 E St. John St, opened its doors Tuesday to the public.

The brewery-cidery is the first to open in the Upstate and the first cidery to open in South Carolina. Owners Michael Wilcox and Kolby Garrison say the Tap House will feature 31 taps including original beers and ciders brewed in house, along with a regional selection and high-end pub fare.

Hub City Tap House will be open 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. 

The grand opening celebration is planned from 2 p.m. to midnight Friday and from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday. The brewery-cidery will be closed Sundays and Mondays.  

Right now, Tap numbers 1 through 10 include:

1. Gruntled Pumpkin, RJ Rockers, RJ Rockers Brewery
2. Hi-5 IPA, Terrapin, Terrapin Beer Co.
3. Southern Style Pale Ale, Brewery 85, Brewery 85
4. Golden Fleece Belgian Pale, Quest Brewing Company
5. Banana Split Chocolate Stout, Thomas Creek, Thomas Creek Brewery
6. Kellerweiss Hefe, Sierra Nevada, Sierra Nevada Brewery At Mills River
7. El Toro Cream Ale, Fullsteam, Fullsteam Brewery
8. Ashley Saison, Freehouse, Freehouse Brewery
9. Watership Brown, Red Hare, Red Hare Brewing Company
10. Hop Art IPA, COAST, COAST Brewing Company
