Christmas celebrations and special holiday events are taking place across the Upstate and Western North Carolina.

Below is a list of some upcoming events.


  • Anderson Christmas Parade. Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Anderson.
  • The Western Carolina Sail Club will host its inaugural Lighted Sailboat parade on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. 15 boats are expected to participate. Spectators can watch from the Green Pond landing on Highway 24.
  • The Anderson County Christmas Parade. Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at 3027 Martin Luther King. Jr. Boulevard.


  • A Winter’s Tail holiday celebration at WNC Nature Center. Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Choirs from Asheville area schools and churches will perform holiday songs at the Asheville Regional Airport as part of the Sounds of the Holidays program. Performances will be Dec. 8 from 4 to 4:40 p.m.; Dec. 11 from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.; Dec. 16 from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.; Dec. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Dec. 18 from 9:20 to 9:50 a.m.
  • Diana Wortham Theatre's Intersections Sing Together: Winter Songs, Friday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. in The Forum at Diana Wortham Theatre
  • Frank Sinatra interpreter Steve Lippia accompanies the Asheville Symphony for "Simply Sinatra Christmas" on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium. 


  • Clemson Farmer’s Market Holiday Market. Dec. 4 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Patrick Square Village Green, located at 578 Issaqueena Trail.


  • The “Grand Illumination” tree lighting, caroling and visit with Santa begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall on Dec. 4.
  • Easley Christmas Parade. Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in downtown Easley.
  • Five Point Church is holding the Bikes or Bust event through Dec. 6. The church is collecting bikes to give to children in Pickens County Schools. Read more.

Fountain Inn

  • Tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 4 at 5:30 at Commerce Park, located at 101 Depot Street. Carriage rides follow at 6:30 p.m.
  • Ice skating at the Farmers Market, located at 101 Depot Street, will be available from Dec. 4 to Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. each evening. Price is $7 per person per hour and includes skate rental. Photos with Santa are also available.


  • Christmas on Limestone celebration. Dec. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. on Limestone Street in downtown Gaffney.
  • Santa 5K Holiday Hustle. Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. in downtown Gaffney. Call 864-487-5080 for more.
  • Pancakes with Santa Claus. Dec. 5 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Cherokee County History and Art Museum. Cost is $10.
  • Christmas on Campus at Limestone College. Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Gaffney Christmas Parade. Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. in downtown Gaffney.


  • 45th annual Holiday Fair. Dec. 3 – 5 at the TD Convention Center. Read more here.
  • Bob Jones University has several Christmas-themed events: A CONCERT ON Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.; holiday sidewalk sale on Dec. 4 from noon to 7:30 p.m.; kids’ Christmas scavenger hunt through Dec. 16; Christmas strolling tour for adults through Dec. 16; Children’s Christmas Celebration on Dec. 12 at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m.; Carol Singing and Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas' 16th Annual McGala. Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the TD Convention Center.
  • Christmas Festival at the State Farmer’s market in Greenville. Dec. 5 and 12 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The farmer’s market is located at 1354 Rutherford Road.
  • Greenville Zoo’s Breakfast with Santa, presented by Texas Roadhouse. Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. in the Greenville Zoo Annex Building. Admission is $20 and includes guest pass to the zoo.
  • Safari Santa event at Greenville Zoo. Dec. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Photos with Santa are available and some zoo animals will have Christmas trees and holiday decorations.
  • Salvation Army Battle of the Bells. Teams compete at the Belks at Haywood Mall, Bi-Lo on Pelham Road, and Sam’s Club on Woodruff Road on Dec. 5.
  • The Living Gallery recreation of "The Difficult Journey" by Fritz von Uhde at Bob Jones University. Dec. 4 - 5 at 4:40 and 8 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for children.
  • Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade. Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. from North Street to Augusta Street along Main Street in downtown Greenville.
  • 30th annual ABATE Toy Run to benefit the Julie Valentine Center. Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. at the Greenville Shrine Club, located at 119 Beverly Drive.
  • Greenville County Sheriff's Office 14th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in memory of victims of homicide and vehicle fatalities. Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at Greenville County Square.
  • Holiday Happening. Dec. 10-13 in downtown Greenville. Read more.
  • Sugar Creek Jingle Bell Jog. Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Sugar Creek neighborhood clubhouse located at 119 Stonecrest Road.
  • Santa Run 5K. Dec. 19, 9 a.m. at  Bon Secours Wellness Arena.


  • Greenwood Christmas Parade. 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in Uptown Greenwood.


  • Christmas tree lighting at City Park. Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. Event includes holiday music and children’s inflatables.
  • Greer Christmas Parade. 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in downtown Greer.
  • Supper with Santa at Northwood Baptist Church. Dec. 12 at 5 and 7 p.m. at 888 Ansel School road. Dinner and dessert included. Tickets are $10 for kids, $7 for adults.
  • Foothills Philharmonic and Greer Cultural Arts Council's 15th annual Christmas Concert and Toys for Tots Drive. Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Greer First Baptist Church on West Poinsett Street.


  • 35th Annual Head Start Christmas Party. Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.
  • Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County's 7th annual Christmas Gifting Party. Dec. 8 from 4:15 to 8:15 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, located at 204 Sixth Avenue, Hendersonville.
  • The Elk's Lodge in Hendersonville will host a special needs gala for Henderson County high schools' special needs students on Dec. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hickory Tavern

  • The Hickory Tavern Fire Department hosts "A Country Christmas" on Dec. 12 at 79 Hickory Heights Drive.. The annual turkey shoot will be held from noon to 3 p.m. A parade will begin at 5 p.m. followed by a benefit concert by the country band  Outshyne.


  • Iva's annual Christmas parade will be held on Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.


  • Carolina Foothills Artisan Center Holiday Party. Dec. 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. Free and open to the public.


  • Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain and FOX Carolina’s Joe Gagnon will wrestle together at the LCSO/ Battle Zone Wrestling Christmas for Kids wrestling fundraiser. Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Laurens Exchange Building, located at 137 Fairgrounds Road. Tickets are $10 for ages 12 and up and $5 for ages 5 to 12.
  • Laurens Christmas Parade. Dec. 5  at 5 p.m. The parade route starts at the Laurens County Library.
  • Laurens Co. Sheriff's Office Christmas for Kids Toy Ride. Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. Ride begins at Laurens Co. Courthouse on Hillcrest Square. Ride ends at Laurens VFW. Toys collected will be distributed to needy families.


  • Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center.
  • Breakfast with Santa. Dec. 5 at 9 a.m. at the Mauldin Senior Center. Call 864-297-1323 for ticket information.
  • Christmas parade on Dec. 6. Time is TBA. Route is between Mauldin High School and the Cultural Center.


  • Norris Christmas Parade. Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. on Main Street.


  • Christmas at Boxwood Manor. Includes classic cars, tours, food art, décor and more. Dec. 5-6, and 12-13 at Ashtabula Plantation.
  • Pendleton Christmas Parade. Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. in downtown Pendleton.


  • Country Santa Clash wrestling show. Dec. 5 at Pickens Middle School. WWE Hall of Famer Ricky the Dragon Steamboat is expected to make an appearance. Bell time is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $4 with donation of a new, unwrapped toy.
  • Pickens Christmas Parade. Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. along Main Street.


  • Piedmont Christmas Parade. Dec. 12 at 11 a.m.


  • Rutherfordton-Spindale Christmas Parade. Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m. on Main Street in Spindale. Parade is expected to arrive on Main Street Rutherfordton at 5:30 p.m.


  • Main Street Holiday market. Saturdays through December from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Simpsonville Christmas Parade. Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. on Main Street.


  • 19th Annual Pediatric Rehabilitation Christmas Party sponsored by the Judy Bradshaw Foundation and the Spartanburg Regional Foundation. Children with developmental disorders will receive gifts. Dec. 5 at 9 .am. at the Spartanburg Medical Center Regional Outpatient Lobby on Church Street.
  • Wofford University’s Christmas Concert. Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in Leonard Auditorium.
  • Spartanburg Youth Theatre performs 'Twas the Night Before Christmas at Chapman Cultural Center. Showtimes: Dec. 4, at 4, 4:30 and 7 p.m.; Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for kids.
  • Home for the Holidays concert at Converse College. Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in Twichell Auditorium. Tickets are $21 - $41.
  • Light Up a Life tree and candle lighting services will be held on Dec. 8 at 3 and 7 p.m. at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, located at 686 Jeff Davis Drive.
  • Spartanburg Christmas Parade. Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Spartanburg.
  • Santa visits the Whitney Fire Department on Dec. 13. Firefighters will take Santa on a tour of the neighborhood in a fire truck from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Ballet Spartanburg presents "The Nutcracker." Dec. 11 - 13 at Converse College. Showtimes are Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 12 and 13 at 3 p.m.Tickets are $32 for adults.

Travelers Rest

  • Very Merry Local Christmas Market. Dec. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Trailblazer Park. Features local produce, 60 vendors, live entertainment, and Santa Claus.

  • Tryon Christmas Parade. Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. on Trade Street.


  • 2nd Annual Walhalla Lights Christmas Drive-Thru. More than 20 displays tell the nativity story. Nightly starting at 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 13 at the Faith Center Church, at 115 Worley Lane.


  • Williamston Christmas Parade. Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. on Main Street.
