GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A family of eight was left homeless after a fire destroyed their home in Greenville County Monday evening, according to the American Red Cross.

The relief agency said volunteers are assisting the six adults and two children after their house on West Dorchester Boulevard in Greenville went up in flames.

The Red Cross is helping the victims with financial assistance, temporary lodging, and referrals to partner agencies to assist with long-term recovery, the relief agency said.

The Gantt District Fire Department was called out to battle the fire.

There was no word on what caused the blaze.
