As the Tigers celebrate their big win, die hard fans have become overwhelmed with plans to attend the championship game in Phoenix in just over a week.

"About a minute and a half before the game was over I started kind of grabbing some phone conversations with some people," said Mike Barnes.

Mike Barnes is a Clemson alum and a big fan. He was at their first championship game 35 years ago and said he called airlines and friends to try and get tickets in the final moments of the game.

"Prices were pretty reasonable two minutes before the end of the game and by two minutes after the game, they were kind of expensive," said Barnes.

After completing a search to get a better idea of what fans like Barnes are dealing with, we found the cheapest tickets on Stub Hub are going for just over $700. If you get tickets through the Ticket Network they are as low as $481, but others are going for as much as $5,000.

"This seems pretty expensive right now, it's almost comparable to that of a Superbowl," said Barnes.

Airfare, yet another feat, is causing more issues for Clemson fans. Southwest Airlines is sold out heading from the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport to Phoenix on January 10 through the 11. The earliest availability is on January 8, and that round trip flight costs about a thousand dollars.

If you fly with United Airlines, a round trip flight would cost $1,200 to leave the day before the game and return the day after, but fans like Barnes are staying hopeful.

"As long as you get enough information out there, enough people knowing that you're looking for tickets and you're eager to go and have the means to get there... then the probability gets a little higher," said Barnes.
