SAN ANTONIO, TX (FOX Carolina) -

Police in Texas are investigating the homicide of a deaf Spartanburg man.

50-year-old William Farr was found shot to death outside Springview Manor Apartments in San Antonio on Saturday.

An autopsy revealed Farr was shot with a small caliber weapon, according to officers.

Farr's family said he is originally from Spartanburg but moved around often. Farr attended the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind.

A witness told police in San Antonio that Farr always communicated with a pen and pad. A note was found next to Farr's body with the word "sorry" written in blue ink, according to the incident report.

Investigators said a blue ink pen was found in Farr's hand.

The San Antonio Police Department said 49-year-old Michelle Chase is charged with murder in connection with the case.

FOX San Antonio reports that Chase first denied knowing anything about Farr's death but then admitted to shooting him after he startled her by banging on her door.
