GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

One Upstate school is being recognized on a national platform.

Greer Middle College Charter High School is one of three finalists for the Lowell Milken TAP Founder’s Award. The award recognizes schools for academic excellence and student achievement.

School administrator, Jimmy Armstrong, said staff members will go to New Orleans for the National TAP Conference later this month, where the winner will be announced.

NIET's TAP is a teacher evaluation and student growth model that Greer Middle College Charter High has used for the past fours years, according to Armstrong.

More than 500 schools across 26 states participate in the program.

A $50,000 prize is up for grabs.
