Whether you play the game or not, you've likely heard about it or seen people walking around playing Pokemon Go.  The GPS like game has special locations called poke stops where players can collect items needed to play the game.

They are spread out throughout Greenville and cities all around the world.  "Somebody was just like oh, it's a Poke Stop! and then they looked and were like, did you know you were a Poke Stop?" said Kim Dehondt.

Dehondt is a manager at Friar's Tavern off of Woodruff Road, she says at the time a player asked her, she had no idea what a poke stop or much about the game for that matter, but being a popular destination in the game has boosted business.

"We've got that crowd where Pokemon Go is a big part of their life right now," she said. A Pokemon ball has even been drawn on a chalk board in their dart room, and on Wednesday night staff said 10 to 15 people were sitting at the their tables playing the game.

The Beef Jerky Outlet at Magnolia Park is offering a 10 percent discount to any customer that can prove they are above level 5 in the game.

Businesses like Forever 21 and Sephora aren't wanting the extra foot traffic. Reports on social media say people have been kicked out of the retail stores for playing the game.  And those aren't the only places not wanting to be included.

"Unfortunately they've done it in places that aren't probably the most conducive to the location itself like the 9/11 memorial or the holocaust museum," said Deveren Werne.

Werne is the Vice President of Liquid Video Technologies in Greenville, and said you can get your location removed by contacting the game's developer and simply asking.

"They'll remove it... listen, they're not out to hurt anybody, they're out to make as much money as they can," said Werne. But he said before doing so, you may want to find out if that removes all Google privileges, including your gps address when someone searches your location online.

He said there are pros and cons, but said the cons aren't going to be stop many players any time soon. "That's where everything is headed... one day you will control everything you own through that phone... this is just the start," said Werne.
