PIEDMONT, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A jury in federal court returned a guilty verdict for an Upstate man who helped his wife steal thousands of dollars from her work.

Officials said 65-year-old Richard Elmer Sundblad was found guilty of aiding and abetting a scheme and artifice to defraud by use of the mails.

Sundblad's wife, Retta Sundblad, worked as a purchasing manager for Griffin Thermal Products, which manufactures high-end custom radiators. Between 2012 and 2014, a number of invoices were submitted to GTP by a business named "Upstate Industrial."

It was determined that Upstate Industrial was fictitious and GTP suffered a loss of more than $800,000 due to the fraudulent invoices.

An investigation revealed Upstate Industrial was formed by Richard Sundblad. Templates for the fake company's invoices were found on Retta Sundblad's computer.

The money was reportedly used by the couple to buy cars, a motor coach and "live a lavish lifestyle."

Richard Sunblad was sentenced Tuesday to 40 months imprisonment and ordered to pay $282,000 in restitution.

Retta Sunblad pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
