Some Week 2 games delayed due to weather

Some Week Two high school football action started early in the Upstate and others were delayed due to weather concerns.

Delayed games

Spartanburg District 5 said Friday that the Byrnes away game against Mallard Creek had been moved to Saturday due to the weather. The game is expected to start at 7 p.m. Saturday in Mallard Creek, NC.

Southside Christian's away game against McCormick has been delayed due to weather. McCormick High School said the game will be played Saturday at 6 p.m.

Camden Military and Dixie were postponed until noon on Saturday.

Batesburg-Leesville at Newberry was postponed until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Mid-Carolina vs. Saluda was postponed to 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Whitmire, 1-1, will face at Ridge Spring-Monetta, 0-2, in a non-region 1A game at noon on Saturday.

Thursday games

Carolina Academy hosted Greenville and the Red Raiders went on to win 62-7.

Riverside headed up the road to Blue Ridge and the Warriors were able to tame the Tigers, winning 47-36.

Ninety Six hit the road to face Ridge View, falling to the home team 68-52.

Friday games

The action on the gridiron continues Friday with Daniel traveling to Seneca in the Friday Night Blitz Game of the Week.

Here’s a look at the other games scheduled for Friday:

  • Abbeville, 2-0, hopes to keep the streak going against Emerald, 0-1. 
  • Batesburg-Leesville will face Newberry, 2-0, in the teams’ first meeting since 2013.
  • Belton-Honea Path will aim fort their third straight win when they face 1-1 Easley.
  • Boiling Springs, 1-0, heads south to face TL Hanna, 0-2, in a non-region class 5A game.
  • Chapman, 1-1, hits the road to face Laurens, 0-1.
  • Christ Church will face West Oak. Both teams are 0-2. Christ Church has not been 0-2 since 2006.
  • Clinton makes the journey to Greer, where the 0-2 Yellow Jackets are hoping for their first win against the 1-0 Red Devils.
  • Hart County heads across the lake to face Westside, 2-0.
  • Hillcrest heads to Dorman in a non-region Class 5A game. Both teams are hoping for their first win of the season in their first meeting since 2013.
  • JL Mann heads to Mauldin for a non-region Class 5A game. Both teams hoping for their second win of the season.
  • Landrum, 0-1, plays at Broome, 1-1, in their first meeting since 2013.
  • Pendleton, 1-1, will visit Palmetto, 1-0, in their first meeting since 2011.
  • Pickens, 0-2, will face at Liberty (2-0).
  • Powdersville heads to Wren for the first meeting between the two teams. Powdersville is 0-1 and Wren is 1-0.
  • Spartanburg, 2-0, heads to Georgia to face Etowah, 1-1.
  • Travelers Rest heads to Walhalla for the teams’ first meeting since 2009.
  • Union County, 1-1, heads north to face 0-1 York in their first meeting since 2005.
  • Ware Shoals head to St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
  • Woodmont heads to Wade Hampton for a non-region Class 5A game.
  • Woodruff, 1-1, heads to Chesnee, 2-0. The Wolverines suffered their first shut out since 2006 last week with the 21-0 loss to Abbeville.
