A man in Maine is facing a murder charge after the body of a former Greenville resident was found in the woods.

State police said 34-year-old Valerie Tieman was found dead in a wooded area of Fairfield, Maine on Tuesday behind the home she shared with her husband and his parents. Family and friends confirmed Tieman was a former Greenville resident and has family currently living in the Taylors area.

Her husband, Luc Tieman, 32, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning and charged with murder.

Police said he was arrested without incident near a motel where he was staying in Maine.

Tieman, a Greenville native, is a former graduate of Bob Jones University and still has family living in the Upstate.  She was prominently known as a make-up artist in the area, working everything from weddings to pageants.  Friends told FOX Carolina that she had moved to Maine with her husband.

Tieman had been missing for a month before her body was found, according to authorities.

"She was loved by so many," Valerie Tieman's father told FOX Carolina tonight.  "We have been blessed with so much prayer and support from friends and total strangers as well."

An autopsy is being conducted by the Maine State Medical Examiner's Office.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced, but Tieman's family said that her body would be brought back to South Carolina to be buried.
