UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Union police said a man leading officers on a foot chase Sunday night stopped to ask a woman for a drink of water while police were chasing after him.

Police said an officer tried to pull over 28-year-old Jamie Oraine Bell after clocking him driving 52 miles per hour in a 35 zone on West Main Street. Police said Bell didn’t stop until they reached Blassingame Street, where investigative reports state Bell parked the silver Kia he was driving and jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle.

Bell ran off on foot and an officer gave chase.

K-9s were called in to search for Bell and stopped at a house on West Main Street. Officers said they knocked on the door and a man had stopped at her door and told her he was being chased by four men and asked for a drink of water.

Police said the car was registered to Bell and several items inside has Bells name and information on them.

Warrants were signed charging Bell with failure to stop for blue lights and driving under suspension. He was arrested around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday and booked into the Union County jail.

He was later released on bond.
