NEWBERRY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Newberry County Sheriff's Office said a 24-year-old man has been charged after an elderly woman was bound, kidnapped, and robbed.

Deputies said around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 they responded to a 911 call on Green Meadows Drive. Investigators said they found a 73-year-old woman who appeared to have been tied up around her neck and legs.

She had removed some of her bindings, but deputies said she was still partially restrained with duct tape and a telephone cord. She had a broken collar bone as well.

The Sheriff's Office said a suspect hid in the victim's car and kicked her in the chest when she opened her door to get inside. He then reportedly forced his way into the home and bound her before taking money and jewelry.

The suspect then reportedly forced her into the vehicle and drover her around before taking her back home and demanding more money.

When he finally left, deputies said the victim was able to unbind herself enough to dial 911.

Deputies said he fled in the victim's car, which was located near Boyd's Crossing Road. Bloodhounds searched the area for him, but came up empty.

On Monday, deputies announced that Anthony Maurice Wise had been charged in the case.

Wise also lives on Green Meadow Drive and was familiar with the victim, deputies said.

Wise was charged with Burglary, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature, and Grand Larceny. He was on probation for a drug offense when the kidnapping occurred, deputies said.
