SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg Police Department said an investigation has been launched into a shooting on Thursday night.

Officers responded to the call on Lucerne Drive around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, when they arrived on scene they found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the roadway next to a 2003 Jeep SUV. Officers said he was transported to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries.

Officers said the gunman was still on scene and was detained.

After interviewing witnesses, police said it appears the shooting occurred after a road rage incident. Both drivers turned onto Lucerne Drive and were arguing and gesturing at each other.

The victim reportedly exited his vehicle at a speed bump when he was shot. The victim was identified as Daniel Hull.

Hull was reportedly paralyzed after being shot multiple times. Family said his rehabilitation is expected to be long and expensive. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help support them.

No charges have been filed in the case, but an investigation is ongoing.
