Pedestrian killed in crash on Hwy 34 in Newberry Co.

NEWBERRY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers said a man died after being struck by a car on Highway 34 early Saturday morning in Newberry County.

According to troopers, the crash happened just after 4 a.m. near Ringer Road about six miles from the city of Newberry.

Troopers said a 20-year-old woman driving a 2014 Mitsubishi SUV struck a man in the roadway.

The 30-year-old man from Saluda died at the scene.

The coroner has not yet released the man's name.

The SC Highway Patrol MAIT team was called in to reconstruct the crash as part of the investigation.

Highway 34 was closed for several hours and traffic was being detoured along Mt. Pleasant Road while troopers investigated.
