ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Anderson County deputies said a 38-year-old Anderson man has been charged in two recent strong arm robberies at area businesses.

Michael Shaun Martinez was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies said he robbed the Walgreens on West Whitner Street.

Deputies said Martinez went to the checkout counter to purchase items, reached across and forcefully took money from the register. He got away with about $55.

Deputies found Martinez walking nearby on Danbury Lane a short time later.

He was also charged in a Sept. 10 robbery at the Stop A Minit on Pearman Dairy Road.

Deputies said Martinez also reached over the counter and stole cash from the register there.

“In both incidents, Martinez gave the impression that he was purchasing merchandise but when the cash register drawer opened, he grabbed cash and fled,” Lt. Sheila Cole said in a news release.

Martinez is being held on a $30,000 bond at the Anderson Co. Detention Center.
