HONEA PATH, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Firefighters responded to the scene of a sidewalk collapse in Honea Path on Monday.

According to officials, the collapse occurred outside 21 North Main Street. Two people were reportedly transported for injuries and 35 people were evacuated from the scene, including mother, Jamie Tucker.

"Right before they let the children out of their dance class, I hear a collapse. I look behind me, four feet from me, there's two ladies, six foot if not deeper under the ground," Tucker said.

Honea Path fire chief Jimmy Smith said he sent a rescue team with a ladder to help parents and dancers get out of the building. "We got our rescue team in there. We were afraid more of the building was going to collapse and bring down the whole front end of the building," Smith said,

Firefighters are working to prevent further collapse.
