HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials broke ground Wednesday on a new high school that allows students in Henderson County to earn college credit and even complete an associate’s degree while in high school.

The Innovative High School (IHS) is being constructed on the Blue Ridge Community College Henderson County Campus.

The high school is the result of a collaboration between Blue Ridge Community College, Henderson County, and Henderson County Public Schools, officials said.

The new campus will house the Henderson County Early College and a new Career Academy. Officials said the learning centers provide high school students opportunities to transfer to universities or train for in-demand jobs.
