TOWNVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a homicide scene is connected to a school shooting on Wednesday.

Deputies said a 14-year-old gunman opened fire on the playground of Townville Elementary School just before 2 p.m., injuring two students and a teacher.

At a press conference on Wednesday night, deputies said the shooting suspect's father was found dead at his home on Osborne Road, which is located less than three miles away form the school.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Jeffrey Osborne. According to Anderson County coroner Greg Shore, Osborne's death has been ruled a homicide. Shore later confirmed Osborne suffered gunshot wounds.

Shore said officials discovered Osborne's body after the teen school shooting suspect's paternal grandparents received a phone call around 1:45 p.m.

They told officials their grandson was crying and they couldn't understand what he was saying. The grandparents reportedly traveled to Osborne's house and found their son dead.

Their grandson was not at the residence at the time they arrived, Shore said.

After an autopsy, the coroner's office said Osborne was found sitting on his couch in the living room with multiple gunshot wounds. The television was still on.

The coroner said 40-caliber shell casings were recovered from the home.

Jesse was later charged with murder in connection with his father's slaying.
