ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

On Friday, the teen school shooting suspect stood before a judge to receive charges after being accused of killing his father and shooting three at Townville Elementary School earlier this week.

During the hearing, the 14-year-old's charges were announced as murder and three counts of attempted murder.

The state requested that the teenager remain in custody due to the nature of the crime.  His attorney, Frank Epps, did not dispute that.

The teen's mother was in court. She sat in the front row and could be seen crying throughout the hearing.

The judge did not allow cameras to show the teenager in court because he is still charged as a juvenile. Anderson County Sheriff John Skipper said determination of whether to charge him as an adult will come later.

Epps confirmed that his client will waive the 10-day hearing.
