EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An Easley High School student has been selected to perform with the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band during the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band said James Roddy, a mellophone player, has been selected to be a part of the band, which will perform at half-time during the Jan. 7, 2017 game in San Antonio, TX. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is listed as the premier high school all-American football game.

On Monday, the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band will visit Easley High School to honor James Roddy during a special recognition event in the auditorium.

“By becoming a U.S. Army All-American, Roddy is joining an elite group. Only 125 high school marching band members among the millions in the United States are selected,” a news release from the US Army stated. ”Band members are chosen not just because they excel musically, but because they are mentally and physically agile, they know the importance of teamwork, and they are able to adapt to challenging situations, similar to U.S. Army Soldiers.”

The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band will present Roddy an honorary jacket during Monday’s ceremony.
