The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a man is in custody after a teen was kidnapped in Missouri.

Deputies said on Monday they responded to the North Mills River area of Pisgah National Forest in regards to possible missing or wanted persons.

At the campground, they reportedly located a 13-year-old girl and 22-year-old Kenneth Dylan Whitehead of Bristol, TN. Deputies said a background check on Whitehead revealed he was wanted out of Dent County, MO for the girl's kidnapping.

Whitehead was charged with two counts of first-degree statutory rape of a child under 15. He is currently behind held on a $1,020,000 bond at the Henderson County Detention Center.

The victim was placed in protective custody and later reunited with her guardian.
