Prosecutors: Death penalty sought in case of man accused of killing Asheville woman, unborn baby

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Prosecutors confirm they will seek the death penalty in the case of a man accused of killing an Asheville woman and her unborn baby and shooting a 3-year-old in the face.

Nathaniel Dixon, 24, was charged with murder, murder of an unborn child, attempted murder and child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, according to police.

Police said Dixon gunned down Candace Pickens and shot her son Zachaeus Waters in Jones Park in early May. He was tracked down to Columbus Ohio where he was arrested, according to warrants, and he was extradited to Asheville on May 22.

Prosecutors confirmed on Tuesday that they will request the death penalty in Dixon’s case.
