GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

U.S. Senator Tim Scott’s office will host an information session in Greenville on Thursday for teens interested in learning about four military academies.

During the session at Scott’s Greenville office, located at 104 South Main Street, information will be given about the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The sessions are open to 8th-12th graders. The students and their families can learn about the overall nomination and application process and ask questions about attending a service academy.

"The four service academies have produced some of our country's greatest officers and are instrumental in helping our country maintain the finest military in the world," Sen. Scott said  "There is no time like the present to start thinking about your future. I encourage South Carolinians who are interested in the academies to attend one of the information sessions that my offices will be hosting."

Students interested in being nominated must submit an application, SAT/ACT scores, two essays, high school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation by October 13, 2016.

The Greenville session will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.
