SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Approximately 45 soldiers with the South Carolina National Guard will be deployed to the Horn of Africa this weekend.

A deployment ceremony for the 151 Signal Corps Battalion Forward was held at USC Upstate in Spartanburg on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The soldiers are being deployed to their mobilization station this weekend to provide and maintain a tactical communication network throughout the area of operations in Africa, according to Captain Brian Hare. The deployment and mobilization are scheduled for approximately one year.

The ceremony was not open to the general public.
