GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and 5K took place in the Upstate this weekend.

Participants in the walk were able to get a little Sunday exercise in while raising funds for groundbreaking breast cancer research, education and critical patient services.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and 5K is a celebration of survivorship. A major goal during the walk is to make sure that anyone touched by the disease has a hand to hold.

Walkers and runners were able to gather (in pink of course) at the Peace Center in downtown Greenville to begin the event. As of Sunday at 3:45 p.m., 62 teams of 397 total participants were able to raise nearly $60,300.

The annual event is organized by the American Cancer Society. For more information visit the website here.
