GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies were called to a standoff with a samurai sword-wielding man on Tuesday afternoon.

Dispatch said deputies were called to reports of a man with a large sword in the 3900 block of White Horse Road. Traffic was reportedly being diverted to Welcome Avenue Extension.

A deputy said he was driving down White Horse Road just after 1 p.m. when he spotted a man with two samurai swords at a residence near Tabernacle Baptist.

Deputies had reportedly been involved in previous incidents with the individual.

When a deputy approached the man and tried to talk him into putting down the swords, he reportedly took a combat stance.

After several hours of negotiations, deputies took down the man who was seen being loaded into an ambulance.
