Panthers announce grant funding for high school athletic programs impacted by hurricane

SOUTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina) -

Carolina Panthers Charities is providing $250K in grant funding to assist high school athletic programs across the Carolinas.

According to the press release, the grant funding will assist high school athletic programs in the replacement or repair of equipment, supplies, or athletic infrastructure lost or damaged due to the recent hurricane damage in North and South Carolina.

High school athletic programs will have the opportunity to apply for grant funding from Carolina Panthers Charities to assist in the their storm recovery efforts. Applications submitted will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a deadline for consideration of November  11, 2016.

“The Carolina Panthers hope this grant funding will enable schools, and the communities they serve, to return to a sense of normalcy by helping meet the important basic needs of high school athletic programs, “said Riley Fields, Panthers director of community relations.

Fields said the team will work in conjunction with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and The South Carolina High School League and other partnerships agencies to distribute the grant application to member schools.

Following the historic flooding in October 2015, The Carolina Panthers Charities provided 250,000 in grant funding which aided 19 high schools in South Carolina.
