ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

New developments have emerged in the case of a missing couple from Anderson. Mysterious posts started appearing on Charlie David Carver's Facebook page after he was reported missing, along with his girlfriend, Kala Victoria Brown.

“This is a mother’s worse nightmare,” said Charlie’s mother, Joanne Shiflet.

The couple disappeared on August 31st and haven’t been heard from since.

Charlie’s family says the two seemingly vanished into thin air. They left behind all of their belongings, including their dog.  The only thing missing was Charlie's car, a 2002 white Pontiac Grand Prix, and his laptop.

"It was not a planned trip. Their little dog was left there. Personal items that you would have taken with you on a trip were left there. To me, that just doesn't say, I’m leaving for a month,” said Joanne Shiflet.

A couple weeks after Charlie and Kala went missing, Charlie’s family says they started noticing Facebook posts from his account. Their initial excitement quickly turned to heartache.

"He wouldn't post nothing like that,” said Charlie’s brother, Nathan Shiflet.

Charlie’s mother says the posts were rude and profane, something that is uncharacteristic of her son.  His family and friends believe someone else is behind the posts, posing as the missing man.

“It’s never going to end they are not coming be to there families," read one post.

"That grammar and the spelling would not come from my son. That’s not him," said Joanne Shiflet.

Another post said Charlie and Kala got married and were having a baby. Something both families say simply is not true.

"They’ve got his password to his Facebook, so whoever it is, they know him personally,” said Nathan Shiflet.

Charlie’s family says in their hearts they know it's not him, and that’s the hardest part of all.

Investigators have not linked the Facebook posts to the couple's disappearance. Anyone with information about Charlie or Kala's whereabouts is asked to contact the Anderson Police Department at (864) 260-4444.
