Police: Woman killed after crashing into Buncombe Co. government vehicle

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Asheville Police Department said a woman was killed in a collision on Friday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Smokey Park Highway when an SUV crashed into the back of a Metropolitan Sewerage District truck, which was parked in the right lane.

The truck was reportedly pushed forward in the crash, causing it to strike a Metropolitan Sewerage District employee. The employee's injuries were non-life-threatening.

The driver of the SUV succumbed to her injuries while be transported to Mission Hospital. She was identified as 20-year-old Christina Michaela Nowak.

The crash remains under investigation.
