SPARTANBURG, SC (AP/FOX Carolina) -

A man is behind bars at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after deputies say he attempted to avoid arrest by displaying swords in his hands at his Inman residence.

According to arrest warrants, 36-year-old Brandon Dewitt Miller was charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, 14 to 16 years of age. When a Spartanburg County deputy arrived at Miller’s residence to serve the warrant on Friday, the deputy was met with resistance.

After the deputy told Miller he was there because he had a warrant for his arrest, Miller went back into the home and grabbed two long blades or swords and told the deputy that he would not go back to prison and that he would have to kill him, the reports state.

The deputy said he then called for backup and when backup arrived they were able to use a taser on Miller and attempt to restrain him and gain control of his hands. Deputies said Miller still would not let go of his swords so they used a three-point hook taser which made Miller release the swords and enabled the deputies to apply handcuffs.

According to the arrest warrant, Miller was arrested and taken into custody at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office on Friday and given an additional charge of resisting arrest. His bond is set at 16,000 for both charges, the warrant states.
