Officer suffers minor injuries after wreck in Greenville Co., road reopened

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Troopers are investigating a car wreck involving a Greenville City Police Officer and another driver that occurred early Sunday morning.

Highway Patrol Troopers, the Greenville Fire Department and EMS were on scene of the incident which happened around 4 a.m. on Laurens Road near Market Place Road.

Officers on the scene told FOX Carolina the officer went to Greenville Memorial Hospital to get checked out for minor injuries.

The road was blocked off while investigators gathered information and cleared the scene.

Police said that officer pulled over to help a woman pedestrian when another driver rear-ended the officer's patrol car. They are not sure the speed that car was traveling, but say the driver must have been distracted in some way.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were also taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
