WAYNESVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division said an unsolved homicide case is nearing its 25th anniversary.

Detectives said they are still trying to track down leads or information about the people who knew or worked alongside a construction worker who was found dead in a motel room.

Detectives said on October 22, 1991, the proprietor of the Covered Wagon Motel on Dellwood Road discovered the body of 48-year-old Thomas Wesley “Homer” Harden of Augusta, Georgia.

Harden had been staying in the motel for a month before his death. At some point during his stay, Harden shared the motel room with two other men as they worked on rotating shifts on a BE & K construction project, according to deputies.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Captain Bruce Warren at (828) 356-2904.
